Behind the cut is a Star Trek: TOS Scotty/Uhura fanmix entitled Catching Fire at the Center of the Sun. It's really all about the deep relationship they share and Scotty's insecurities. Details are inside the post.
I hope I've interested you enough to take a look.

Catching Fire at the Center of the Sun

1. Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes By Beck
Change your heart
Look around you
Change your heart
It will astound you
I need your lovin'
Like the sunshine
Everybody's gotta learn sometime
This song's about how Scotty strongly needs Uhura. The beat of the song lends to the feeling that it's deep set within him and something is holding him back from sharing those emotions fully with Uhura.
2. Slow Dancing in a Burning Room By John Mayer
Can't seem to hold you like I want to
So I can feel you in my arms
You were the one I tried to draw
Baby, you're the only light I ever saw
We're going down
And you can see it too
And you know that we're doomed
My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room
This song is set during Scotty and Uhura's relationship at a point when Scotty feels lost and unable to connect with Uhura. Because he thinks so highly of her, he's putting her on a pedestal, causing their disconnect. For this reason, Scotty feels they are in a downward spiral headed for disaster.
3. It's a Man's Man's Man's World By James Brown
This is a man's world, this is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
You see, man made the cars to take us over the road
Man made the trains to carry heavy loads
Man made electric light to take us out of the dark
This is a man's world, this is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
I really like song for this mix, not just because its rhythm really breaks the mix up nicely but because this song just plain and simply says that Scotty thinks the world would be lost without his Uhura. (Plus, the part where it says He's lost in the wilderness makes me chuckle thinking of the part in Trek V when Sulu and Chekov were lost in the forest and Uhura had to get them back to the ship.)
4. The Surface of the Sun By John Murphy
Instrumental.
I just liked this song for the whole feel of the album. It just sounds like Star Trek meets epic romance.
5. Perfect Day By Lou Reed
Oh it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You made me forget myself
I thought I was someone else
This song is about the sort of everyday feeling Scotty has for Uhura. She's his inspiration to continue working on problems and everyday issues to become better and, in his eyes, better for Uhura.
6. Ain't No Sunshine (When She's Gone) By Otis Redding
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long
Anytime she goes away
The overall tone of this song fits the way I view Scotty and Uhura's relationship. Uhura, to Scotty, is joy, hope, something pure and all-encompassing like the sun. As such, when she's away from him, he feels grave loss, as if the very sun had ceased to be.
7. See These Bones By Nada Surf
Look alive, see these bones
What you are now, we were once
Try as they might, no ones immune to
Misfiring and acting on the wrong clues
And thinkin' it's time to redo and redo
This song is about Scotty really baring it all to Uhura, saying "Okay, I'm not perfect; I make mistakes but I love you and I really think that's enough."
8. Happiness By Grant Lee Buffalo
That'll bring you happiness happiness
Is hard to come by I confess
I'm bad at this thing happiness
If you find it share it with the rest of us
Comes down to the way
You rise over things I just put down
In this song, Scotty is wishing he could give Uhura everything, even things that aren't tangible like happiness, hoping she'll share that happiness with him.
9. My Sundown By Jimmy Eat World
I see it around me
I see it in everything
I could be so much
More than this
I'm gonna be so much
More than this
With one hand high
You'll show them your progress
You'll take your time
But no one cares
I need you to show me
The way from crazy
I wanna be so much
More than this
I see this song as a sort of duet between Scotty and Uhura: Scotty starting it by expressing how he's better for knowing Uhura and growing with her, Uhura then joining at the lyric With one hand high to say that regardless of what they might face while journeying together, they will meet it head on as a team as Scotty opens up and learns to rely on Uhura, too.

Because this whole album is from Scotty's point of view, it didn't really show how Uhura feels for Scotty. However, I'm currently in the works on a follow up (of sorts) called Kiss Me Near the Rings of Saturn, which is from Uhura's POV!
I hope I've interested you enough to take a look.
